Graduate Program of Study
The University of Texas at Brownsville requires that all students in graduate programs complete the Graduate Program of Study form. The Program of Study should be developed in consultation with the Faculty Advisor during the first semester of graduate work.
Graduate degrees are awarded on the basis of scholarship, reasoning and investigative abilities, and evidence of proficiency in the student's area of emphasis. Upon admission to the graduate program, the appropriate departmental chair will assign a Faculty Advisor to assist in developing the formal, written Program of Study (POS) designed to meet proficiency levels, certification, and professional needs of the student.
Programs of study must be approved by the Faculty Advisor, the Chairperson of the major department, and the Graduate Office. After signatures are secured, copies must be filed by the student with the Faculty Advisor, the Chair and the Graduate Office. The official Program of Study may be changed upon written request of the graduate advisor to the Dean of Graduate Studies and Sponsored Programs.
