Texas STaR Chart

This site is provided as a resource for students who are in the Master Technology Teacher certification program offered through the Region I Service Center and the University of Texas at Brownsville. Students who have participated in the program have generously agreed to share their knowledge with all who are interested in promoting and increasing technology in education, particularly in K-12.

The Master Technology Teacher is a State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) approved certificate. This Master Technology Teacher (MTT) Certification program is the result of a partnership between the Region One Education Service Center and The University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB). The certification program is designed to offer candidates the opportunity to further their studies and become technology mentors in their schools.

Created by 77th Texas Legislature, MTT certification ensures the availability of teachers with specialized training to work with other teachers and students to increase the use of technology in each classroom.

The new Long-Range Technology Plan, 2006-2020 for the State of Texas will be approved by the 80th Texas Legislature and calls for a renewed emphasis on the MTT certification.

The MTT’s primary duties include “serving as a technology training mentor to other teachers for the amount of time and in the manner established by the district.”

MTT certification will prepare candidates to:

  • Provide instructional leadership in technology;
  • Mentor colleagues as they implement technology-based instruction;
  • Provide professional development at their district/campus; and,
  • Assist the district’s special education department with the implementation of computer-related “Assistive Technology.”

Have Site Suggestions?

If you have any suggestions or request for this site, please contact me by email.  I am always on the lookout for exceptional resources to help MTTers.

I would like for this to be a resource for those who are already MTT certified as well as for those who are in courses or just interested in encouraging technology integration in K-12.

This site is provided for the MTT program at the University of Texas at Brownsville.
